Ancient tablets recently unearthed are believed to reveal a religious event related to the myth of Thanatos - the personification of death (from the Greek θάνατος (thanatos) meaning death).

Social scientists have concluded that in an annual ritual to enact the symbology of the motif of Uroboros a maiden is chosen at birth and raised in a culture of sacrifice - her own life is forfeit to enunciate the unconscious drive towards dissolution and death of the human collective (and all other forms of life)

psychologists who have studied the related symbology believe that it may have been a useful philosophical tool in the aide of those suffering from the death process or those in the midst of grief or other related mental afflictions. It was noted by the renowned Japanese philosopher M itsuzuki Bubblenut that the uroboros symbol bares some relation to the Zen practice of Enso calligraphy and could lead to a similar cathartic experience.
